I have never trapped moths in January or December – it’s too cold. So this month I am showing the Large Emerald because I think it is one of the most beautiful I catch. It flies from June to August on grassland woods and heaths. I used to catch them frequently when I trapped at Adel Dam. The moth is well camouflaged and keeps very still – which is fine when it’s amongst green leaves, but it stands out like a sore thumb on a rough brick wall Peter Larner
