I seldom trap in February and, when I do, the moths I catch are pretty much the same species as those caught in March – three examples, clockwise from the top (wing length shown in mm):
Hebrew Character (Orthosia gothica) 17mm
Twin-spotted Quaker (Anorthoa munda) 20mm
Red-Green Carpet (Chloroclyster siterata) 15mm which emerges in autumn, females overwinter and fly again in spring.
